Katie noticed her bowels had changed in May 2022. After having her first colonoscopy at 37 years old, it was confirmed she had Colorectal cancer. She began chemotherapy every other week for four months.

She would receive treatment at the clinic and then be sent home with an infusion pump to continue chemotherapy for 2 additional days.  An MRI was done half way through treatment and it showed the tumor was shrinking! In November 2022, Katie began radiation - 5 days a week for 5 weeks. In February 2023 a routine MRI confirmed the rumor had shrunk from 7.4 cm to 1.2 cm! Chemotherapy and radiation did their jobs. This gave Katie the go ahead for surgery to remove part of her colon and rectum. In March 2024, Katie had a routine colonoscopy and the results were GREAT! Her next colonoscopy will be in 3 years!
